Karen Golden-Biddle is Questrom Professor in Management and Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. She received her BA degree from Denison University and MBA and PhD degrees from Case Western Reserve University.
Working in the areas of organizational change and qualitative methodology, Karen has published two books and authored more than fifty articles and book chapters in management journals such as the Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science. Recognition for Karen's scholarship includes the 2013 Douglas McGregor Award (Journal of Applied Behavioral Science) for her research on organizational change, and the Academy of Management’s Robert McDonald Award for the Advancement of Organizational Research Methodology. Her co-authored book,Composing Qualitative Research, has been used in doctoral programs in top business schools across the world, including Stanford, University of Michigan, Northwestern, Cambridge, INSEAD, and Columbia.
Her current work focuses in two areas:
(1) Creating dynamic analyses of organizational phenomena in our research practices. Wtih two colleagues, she is currently writing an article about how authors practice coding in theoriizing, with particular focus on how they occasion and articulate discovery in their practice.
(2) Developing a relational perspective on agency and meaningfulness in organizational change. She is currently writing an academic article that articulates the perspective and its implications for the theorizing and practice of change, and a book for use in creating and teaching about such change iintiatives.
Karen teaches courses in organizational/system change and qualitative methods.
Professionally, she is active in the Academy of Management, the preeminent association for management and organization scholars.
